Al Capone
Fear. Corruption. Scarface.
About Me
Al Capone was born to poor immigrants in 1899. He lived a normal childhood until the sixth grade when he dropped out to join a street gang led by the infamous Johnny Torrio. After working with Torrio for a while, he was given control of the gang when Torrio left for the mafia in Chicago. Not long after Torrio brought Capone to Chicago to be a bouncer for one of the mafia's nightclubs. Quickly Torrio rose to the top and kept Capone by his side as his right hand man. When Torrio was wounded in an assassination attempt in 1925, he left the mafia to Capone. Unlike Torrio, Capone collaborated with city officials instead of avoiding them completely. It didn't take long for Capone to build an empire off of fear and bribes, and control all of the bootlegging, prostitution, and gambling in the area. When all other authorities were either on his payroll, or too scared to intervene, the FBI was brought in. However, the only charge the FBI could pin on him was tax evasion. He served his 6.5 year sentence in Alcatraz, suffering from syphilis complications the entire time. When he got out, he was too unwell to resume leadership of his empire. He retired to his home in Miami, where he later passed away in 1947.
UntouchableOn February 14, 1929, a massacre now known as "St. Valentines Day Massacre" was committed. Some of Al Capone's men carried out a hit on a rival gang, while dressed as Chicago Police. None of the shooters were ever caught, and Capone was in Miami at the time of the massacre. Al Capone's unique ability to never get caught of the heinous crimes he committed makes him the most famous mobster of all time.
